WORKING WITH MUMS

Why do I work with mums?

As a mum of 3, I am fascinated by the positive effect that we could potentially have on our own experience throughout pregnancy, and motherhood and therefore our baby's development and health.

A growing body of research shows that antenatal stress can have significant effects on pregnancy, maternal health and infant health and development.

It has long been known that sensitive and responsive maternal caregiving behavior is vital for the healthy emotional, cognitive and social development of a child. Research indicates that the quality of maternal caregiving not only impacts a child's development but can also result in changes in gene expression (via epigenetics).

The transgenerational transmission of maternal behavior means that we tend to parent how we were parented. In essence, the quality of our parenting may impact the quality of parenting these children later provide to their offspring.

So here I am, following my absolute calling to provide a service which supports mums, and gets them prepared for this precious and seismic transition. An awareness of the necessity of self love and self care for the mum, will benefit everyone and create a thriving environment for the family.

My offerings to you come from a place of love with the intention that I can remind you of how you can prepare yourself mentally, emotionally and spiritually for the welcoming of your beautiful baby.

My own experience has guided me towards mind and body practices which I feel compelled to share with you.

What self love mind and body practices do I offer?

Pregnancy Massage

The connection between stress relief and body massage suggests that touch may heal the disturbed psychological status of a stressed individual. It's likely that the sensory stimulation from massage transforms into epigenetic modulation resulting in altered gene expression that triggers a positive change in the neurons, along with wellness and relaxation!

This altered gene expression in mum can be passed on to baby and impact the baby's health and development, known as epigenetic inheritance!

Meditation

'Mind over gene' experiments show that meditation can reprogram mental attitude and awareness. Research indicates that thought and mental states are capable of altering gene expression via epigenetic reorganization.

Further research suggests that meditation during pregnancy can influence fetal development through epigenetic mechanisms, potentially affecting baby's brain and holistic health.

Meditation has also indicated that it can improve the prevention, remission and reduction of depression during pregnancy, thus enhancing mums quality of life and fetal future social and cognitive development.

Reiki

Reiki can help to support you through the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual changes of pregnancy. Reiki sessions promote deep relaxation, which results in a change in endocrine and inflammatory activity.

Make this a regular practice throughout pregnancy, to bring calm to you and your baby.
